The SB4A Interactive Map explores the EU’s Sustainable Business for Africa program.
The SB4A Story Map is a Knowledge Sharing tool which acts as a single entry point for knowledge available on the Sustainable Business for Africa. The following is an overview of the sections.
The SB4A Story Map is designed as a single page “application”. It is designed as such so that the viewer can explore the program and its supporting content without navigating to multiple pages.
It opens on a Landing Screen which serves two purposes:
It sets the stage for an overview of what the program and the application is about.
It provides loading time for the many elements of the application to load in the background – by the time the viewer moves into the program, everything is loaded.
The Landing Screen is followed by a Menu which clearly explains the flow of the content and what the viewer will find.
Clicking on Introduction transitions us into the Main Theme
As a tool in their initiatives against the spread of Cholera in the country, UNICEF needed a web portal to act as the focal point for information.
The Map is synchronised to the Main Theme panel – as the viewer moves through the sections, the map moves to the relevant geographic location.
The Main Theme can be further expanded upon by using Story Branches.
Story Branches allow us to organise our content so that the viewer can choose to either move through the sections of the Main Theme, or to branch off into a relevant sub-topic in more detail.
These sub-topics enter the screen from right to left and deliver their content sequentially almost as a slide show.
They allow us to maintain our one section per screen approach while letting the more detailed content be delivered progressively.
The content of these Story Branches can be programmed to play in a larger window if needed.
