focus tells the story
an interactive exploration of a photographers travels and stories
Photographer Steve Bayes has travelled to and photographed in many parts of the world. He has extensive portfolios of all the places he has visited.
But he needed a way to connect and give context to all his journies and stories. Currently in development “focus is the story” uses our Mapflow platform to create an interactive mapping interface for the user to explore.
While displaying the photographic portfolios is the primary objective, using our custom built interface offers a “front end narrative” to the content. The format and structure is expandable, so future trips and stories can be incorporated.
Mapflow is our custom solution combining storytelling, maps and knowledge management. mapflow combines the power of mapping with geo visualisation tools, video and dynamic data, to provide an exciting new platform for storytelling and knowledge management

Throughout the program, all text and images are being called from a Content Management System (CMS), making changes, additions and updates easy to make. The CMS also enables adding new chapters or stories as they become available.
Exploring the map brings up various chapters, each containing stories and portfolios specific to that region. Motion graphics and interactive video become the gateways to enter a particular area
The fluid and flexible interface gives the user the ability to go deeper and deeper into the content, always with the ability to move to another region of part of the world with just a click.
The map itself is capable of displaying real time information from databases so the viewer can both explore the stories and see relevant geographical or statistical information from the area visited.
